With this piece, Alec Soth focuses on the space between his two subjects. Paris during fashion week and Minnesota, his hometown and place of residence. Soth explains that he doesn’t like to say he “captures his portraits”, but instead shows the distance between himself and the image he photographs. This idea is the main focus in Fashion Magazine, to show the vast similarities and differences in two very separate worlds. The finished product is yet again a gem that depicts just what Alec Soth is capable of and gives his viewers some obscure thoughts to chew on.
